Division of Fire Operations

In addition to fire suppression response the division provides responses to fire alarms, and mutual aid request from our surrounding communities.

Newport Fire-EMS strives to provide the best and most up to date emergency services to our community. This is achieved through continuous training of our personnel. Initial training for firefighters is done through the New Hampshire Fire Academy and continued throughout their careers. Members attend monthly fire training to learn new techniques and brush up on the basic skills of firefighting.

Though our main service area is the Town of Newport, Newport Fire-EMS provides automatic mutual aid to our surrounding communities. We are automatic with a Rapid Intervention Team to the City of Claremont and the Town of Lempster. Newport Fire-EMS also responds to any first alarm assignment in the towns of Croydon, Goshen, and Sunapee as well as other communities when requested.

The Division of Fire Operations consists of thirty one personnel from both our full-time staff and call force. Our apparatus include a rescue pumper, two engines, a ladder truck, utility vehicle, and the Chief's car. The first due apparatus is staffed and operated by the on duty firefighter with additional pieces staffed by call operators as needed. Depending on the size of the incident we can receive mutual aid assistance from our surrounding departments as needed.
