About Parlin Field
Parlin Field is a small municipal airport located just one mile from downtown Newport and minutes from Lake Sunapee and all of its summer activities including boating, swimming, hiking and bicycle trails. Classic covered bridges and historical provide a taste of New Hampshire. From world class craft fairs to our small town "Old Home Days", Parlin Field offers a convenient country getaway to New England at its best.
Parlin Field stands out from most airports because you don't have to leave the airport to enjoy many of the offerings mentioned here. At the beginning of runway 12 you will find the airport office. Taxi to the end of runway 12 and you'll find a wooded picnic area at the fork of the Sugar River right beside a beautiful historic covered bridge. From there you can hike along a short walking trail on the airport bank of the Sugar River or cross the river and bike along the opposite side of the Sugar River on a state maintained trail that was formerly the Claremont & Concord railroad track. From this location, you can head east into the town of Newport or west along the track crossing over the Sugar River on five more bridges, two of which are classic wooden covered bridges. Some of the areas best fly fishing is found along this stony stretch of the river all within a few miles of Parlin Field.
