Renewal Options

  1. Renew Online (you can click this hyperlink and it will take you to the page)  
    1. You will need your plate number, last four digits of vin number, and plate type.  This information can be found on the renewal notice received by email or on your present registration. Also keep in mind that credit card payments are subject to a 2.79% convenience fee. 
    2. Your registration(s) and decal(s) will be mailed to the address on our registration unless you give us other instructions. 
    3. If you have moved to another Newport address since the last time you renewed your vehicle, please fill out an address change form and email that to the clerk email, clerk@newportnh.gov - so that we can update your address.  Please add a note under special instructions to look for the address change form.  SPECIAL NOTE: If you did not renew your vehicle in NEWPORT last year you will need to prove residency and use one of the other options below for renewal this time.
  2. Renew by Mail - Our address isTown Clerk, 15 Sunapee Street Newport NH 03773
    1. Please enclose a check payable to Town of Newport.  You can get the total due by going to ESTIMATES. You will need your license plate number and last 4 of the VIN.
    2. We will need a note with the following:
      1. Your name
      2. Phone number
      3. Picture of you driver’s license (if you don't have access to a printer you can give us the license number)
      4. License plate number(s)
      5. Brief description of what you want us to do (ie. renew all 4 vehicles and pay by credit card for example)
  3. A Drop Box is available in the back parking lot (access from Central Street and pull into the Town Office parking lot directly after the Historical Society Museum on the left). It is located just below the fire escape.  Please use an envelope and write Town Clerk on the outside.  Include the online renewal notice, copies of the registration, Check payable to Town of Newport for the total, and a note containing the following:
    1. Your name
    2. Phone number
    3. Driver’s license number
    4. License Plate Numbers (if you don't have access to a printer)
    5. Brief description of what you want us to do (ie. renew all 4 vehicles and pay by credit card for example)
    6. You can get the total due online or by calling our office 603-863-2224 with your license plate number(s)
  4. By phone if paying by credit card. We will need the license plate number(s).
SPECIAL NOTE: If your registration is expired more than 365 days, we will need an old registration or the title (if one exists) so we can key it as new.  We will need to know if you still have the license plate or if we should assign a new one.
