The Sunshine Town - Newport, N.H. (pop. 6,500) is a small and friendly town (incorporated in 1761) with unparalleled quality of life nestled in the hills of scenic Upper Connecticut River valley and southwestern New Hampshire, conveniently located between Interstates 89 and 91.

The community is governed by Town Meeting, an elected 5 member Selectboard and an appointed Town Manager. Newport also serves as the County Seat of Sullivan County.

A reminder from our Cemeteries, Buildings & Grounds Manager: Removal of Cemetery Summer Grave Decorations must be complete before October 31, 2024.

Summer grave decorations may be maintained on graves from April 8th to October 31st. After November 1st, any summer decorations remaining on the graves will be removed and discarded by the Cemetery Grounds crew.

Newport Leaf Collection Information

Pick-Up Schedule: Leaf collection will take place on Mondays only, starting October 21st. No pick-up on Veterans Day, and the final collection day is November 18th.

Important Details: 

  • Open to all in-town residents.
  • Leaves must be placed in brown paper bags (Plastic bags will not be accepted)
  • Please do not leave bags exposed to the weather
  • Bags are available at local hardware stores
  • Make sure there’s no trash in the bags

How to Participate:

  • Place your leaf bags at the edge of the road (staff will not enter your property).
  • To be added to the pick-up list, please call Public Works prior to the Monday of your collection week.
