Newport Sunshine Initiative
Founded by Newport native, Jay Lucas, in January of 2018, the Newport Sunshine Initiative is a nonprofit group aimed at rejuvenating the town of Newport. Through federal grants and dedicated community volunteers, the Initiative is bringing opportunity, economic growth, and a safe, stable environment to the families of Newport.

Newport's record was set with 339 people simultaneously creating bouquets — and, in the process, a world record in 2019.
"Most people in a mustache contest at one time"
Newport's record was set with 462 entrants vying for artistic honors of "mustache sculpting" — and, in the process, a world record in 2011.
