To:  Residents and Business Owners

This letter serves as a notification for a scheduled temporary restriction(s)  effective immediately for the Sand Hill Bridge No. 154/129.  The NHDOT (New Hampshire Department of Transportation) Annual Inspection Report has determined Sand Hill Bridge No. 154/129 to be placed on its “Red List”. 

The Town of Newport will be complying with the State’s recommended posting restrictions as follows:

  • Enforcement of one-lane with a 10-Ton Load Limit restriction effective immediately per NHDOT guidelines. Traffic control signs will be in place until the bridge is lifted off the NHDOT “Red-List”.

The Town understands that this in an inconvenience to local residents and nearby business owners.  Please understand that the Town of Newport is in its Preliminary Engineering stage for the reconstruction of the Sand Hill Bridge No. 154/129 with its anticipated completion date for year 2021. 

Vehicles exceeding the 10-Ton Load Limit should seek an alternate route via Reeds Mill Road and Aspen Road.
