911 Reflective Address Sign Program

The primary purpose of the 9-1-1 Reflective Address Marker Program is to enable emergency services to locate addresses quickly without unnecessary delay.  This program will provide a reflective address marker at NO COST to the resident/property owner.

PROCEDURES:

1.  The Town of Newport requires all buildings to be numbered in accordance with the state-wide Emergency 9-1-1 system.

2.  For all buildings, markers should visible from the road; the number(s) shall be conspicuously displayed on that side of the building which faces the road.

3.  For buildings 50ft from the roadway, the assigned road number(s) shall be displayed at the primary entry to the property, so as to be visible on a year-round basis.

4.  All road numbers displayed on primary buildings on property shall be of a contrasting color to the means of support.

5.  All road numbers displayed on primary buildings or property shall be at least 3 inches in height.  The size of numbers placed on mailboxes shall be in accordance with U.S. Postal Service requirements.
