Town Common Updates

The Town’s beloved Common will be getting a bit of a multi-year makeover starting this summer!

In conjunction with the Conservation Commission, the Town has arranged for an arborist to be trimming, crowning and fertilizing the trees on the Common.  Over the next 1-2 years, several trees that are in poor health/condition, will be removed and replaced.  All of this work is intended to help ensure the health and longevity of our trees for many years to come.

In addition, the Town working with the Economic Development Corporation of Newport, will be installing 12 new benches on the Common.  It is our hope that these new benches will encourage the public use and enjoyment of this iconic asset.  We will be affording the public the opportunity to “dedicate” a bench through the purchase of a small bronze plaque.  If you would like information about this opportunity, please call the Town Manager’s Office at 603-863-1877.
