Workforce Development

SRVTC

The Newport community is dedicated to advancing workforce development initiatives in order to promote economic prosperity. This is done by focusing on people in addition to businesses as part of our overall economic development strategy. The Town of Newport's workforce development initiatiives are possible because of strategic partnerships with the Economic Corporation of Newport, Newport school district, local businesses, Newport Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce. These collaborations have resulted in access to several workforce development programs for students and non-students as well as job fairs in Newport.

School to Work: The School to Work program is a workplace education program that gives Newport High School students an opportunity to learn critical workplace skills and gain work experience. Students are encouraged to seek any workplace education opportunity or internship based off of their interests, extracurricular involvement, and previous work experience.
