Local Accommodations

Courtesy Bicycles

The fields and hills of the New England countryside spread in all directions from Newport's Parlin Field.  You are invited to fly-in and enjoy them from another perspective.  By bicycle!  We have a number of bicycles available so that you may enjoy some really special sights so close to Parlin Field.  Please bring your own helmet.

From your plane, you can follow a trail beside majestic Pine Trees near the original Parlin Field.  This 1,950' grass strip ends at the historic Corbin Covered Bridge.  From here you can stop at the picnic tables at the fork in the river before you follow the trail to the suspension bridge to cross the Sugar River.  After crossing the river for the first time, you will be on the State maintained recreational trail that follows the Sugar River on the former Claremont-Concord Railroad bed.  This trail will escort you past breathtaking scenery and rocky-bottomed river runs crossing the river 5 more times.  Marvel over the beauty two more historic covered bridges, and the amazing engineering done by the railroad on the steel-latticed trestle bridges and other river crossings.  All in just a few hours - what a way to spend an afternoon!
